Beat Boutique My Window: Facilitating
a collaboration between fashion and art.

Commencing April 2010

We have selected six notable New Zealanders from the music, television and film scene and provided them with a unique opportunity to showcase their individuality and creativity visually and to portray Texas Radio Big Beat Boutiques fashion brands in another dimension which is fun, exciting and visually engaging.

Each artist is assigned a respective month to create an art installation in our window using select fashion pieces from our store. Each artist’s window launch will commence at the 1st of their respective month and will be on show for 3 weeks of their assigned month.

Monthly prize draw

Vote each month and be in to win vouchers from our store totaling NZD250.

Grand prize draw – Win a complete fashion makeover

From the 1st of April vote for each window and give yourself more chance to win the ‘complete fashion makeover’. Votes will be tallied at the duration of the Beat Boutique My Window campaign.

How to vote

Email us at vote@texasradio.co.nz and enter your name, contact details and who you wish to vote for. Join our Facebook page and cast your vote. Each artists window will only be on display for 3 weeks of their assigned month so come down and get a closer look at each creation.

Votes will only be accepted for the artist’s month that is current i.e if you vote in April your vote will be for Kate. Votes will close for each artist at the end of their respective month.

At the duration of the campaign, you have the ability to vote to your hearts content for all artists for one month only. Finale voting will commence 1 October, closing 31 October.

Kate Rodger is a Film Addict, an addiction which dates back to prehistoric time (well at least to Star Wars). Now she’s found a way to fuel that addiction, and live the Film Addict dream. As TV3 Entertainment Reporter and Film3 Reviewer, she gets to watch films, review films, talk about films, talk to filmmakers about their films, go to film festivals, film sets and film awards, and write/talk/blog and generally rave on about films. Result .

Dai Henwood has toured the world with his stand up comedy, from Melbourne to Edinburgh, to Tokyo and Britain. Performing with Rhys Darby in “The Everymen” and having his own TV show on C4 “Insert Video Here” Dai continues to be one of NZ’s outstanding comedians winning the coveted Fred Award at the NZ International Comedy Festival and now becoming a household name for his TV series ‘Roll the Dai’ and TV3’s 7Days.

Rhys Darby – first gained attention in the United States as Murray in HBO’s “Flight of the Conchords”. A veteran of ten years as a standup comedian, Darby made his feature film debut in “Yes Man”. He then went on to feature as one of the DJ’s in Richard Curtis’ forthcoming film, The Boat that Rocked and has completed his first lead role in “Coming and Going”. Rhys is currently filming Love Birds here in Auckland and you can also hear him on his weekly BFM radio show “The Cryptid Factor”.

Aja is the eldest daughter of legendary rock producer, Bob Rock. Aja grew up around the likes of Metallica, Bon Jovi, Motley Crew, The Cult, Bryan Adams, Cher and The Clash (all artista and bands produced by her father). From an early age she was groomed for a musical career taking dance and music lessons beginning at the tender age of 4.
No doubt when she Beat Boutique’s our Window you will see a flair for all things ROCK
michael hurst
Michael is regarded as one of New Zealand’s leading theatre directors and actors, with particular and highly regarded expertise in the staging and presenting of Shakespeare. In 1993 Michael was cast as Iolaus, the sidekick to Hercules in the long running American television series “Hercules, The Legendary Journeys”, and has starred in a number of New Zealand feature films including Desperate Remedies, The Footstep Man, The Tattooist, I’ll make You Happy and “We’re here to Help”.

Nick Dwyer has worked in music television longer then anyone in the industry, with well over 16 years experience presenting on Max TV, Juice TV, M2 and C4. He has been a radio DJ for 16 years now, cutting his teeth at Auckland station 95bFM and since 2009 as a breakfast host on George FM. For the last few years, Nick has been working on the TV series ‘Making Tracks’ which he wrote, directed and presented. Nick is currently in pre-production for the second series of this show.
